This new feature, introduced in Vik Booking version 1.6.3 allows you to split longer stays into two or more rooms, according to your plugin configuration. Using this feature is going to allow you to accept reservations that you would otherwise lose if you do not have a single room available for the entirety of the stay.

You can enable this feature from the Global Configuration of Vik Booking, by using the apposite "Booking split stays"parameter. Enabling this option will let you set another fundamental value: the "Nights/Transfers ratio". Here you can define the ratio the plugin will use to determine if a split stay should be suggested or not, and how many rooms transfer will be permitted. You can help yourself with the "Test Mode" to understand how many rooms swap will be suggested to your customers for the selected number of nights, according to the current "Nights/Transfers ratio".

Looking at the following example you can have a more clear idea on how this feature works. In the screenshot below we tried making a reservation for 7 nights (17/05 - 24/05) and for 10 guests, when the only rooms that could support this many guests are the "Resort Apartment" and "Villa Resort". As you can see neither of this rooms have a complete availability for all the said period, but by switching room during the stay it is possible to cover the entire period.

Using the Check Availability widget, the plugin will notify of the possibility to book the date in "Split Stays" so that the reservation is not simply lost after the "No rooms available for the dates requested" error message. Instead, the room assigned to the reservation is switched during the stay: 2 nights in the "Resort Villa", 3 nights in the "Resort Apartment" and then again 2 nights in the "Villa Resort") making the booking possible.
